Restaurant Week

Restaurant Week

May 24, 2017

This week not only brings us the beginning of the Memorial Day Weekend holiday, but in Downtown Petoskey, there’s a new tradition of Restaurant Week. Spring and fall usher in two distinct seasons for our guests: Spring color and fall color. Obviously, we’re in the midst of blossoming trees, gardens, and grasses so menus rival with new dishes and experimental cocktails. In the fall, the reds, yellows, and oranges proclaim a last celebration before the white of snow and menus bring coinciding soups and late harvest specialties.

This week at City Park Grill on Lake Street they prepare new appetizers, entrées and desserts tempting everyone’s palate.

“We use the menu as a tool and test items to see if we should make them a full-time item,” says Pete, City Park Manager. “We get many a guest who usually doesn’t go out for dinner during the week. They like the selections for a limited price and it introduces the casual diner to what’s available on a greater scale.”

With the list of restaurants in Downtown Petoskey, everyone should be able to find something that tickles the fancy: (All websites available through www.petoskeyrestaurantweek.com)

                City Park Grill
                Duffy’s Garage & Grille
                Noggin Room
                Palette Bistro
                Pour Public House
                Roast & Toast
                Thai Orchid Cosine
                Twisted Olive

Among these varied menus, one can go from finer dining, through some ethnic choices, and also peruse pub fare, coffee shops, and a wine bar. All offer an arrange of choices for lunch at $15 and dinner for $25. Each has three courses which includes a dessert.

In some locales, even the cocktails have taken a twist and turned a fine eye to the unknown.

“I’ve experimented,” Pete begins, “with Pama pomegranate liqueur, Pikesville Straight Rye Whiskey, and some simple syrup as a Manhattan. But our best seller has been a Ginger Gimlet featuring Domaine de Canton, a French ginger liqueur.”

The weather is supposed to be nice, the food is being prepped, and the cocktail shaker is at the ready. Come join us! And watch for next week’s blog as we celebrate the return of everyone with our Summer Open House, Friday, June 2nd! Safe travels.
