Kick off the Festive Season at Ladies Opening Night

Graphic of Ladies Opening Night

As the crisp November air drifts through the charming streets of Downtown Petoskey, it’s time for one of the most enchanting evenings of the holiday season: Ladies Opening Night, happening Friday, November 21, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM.

What Is Ladies Opening Night?

Ladies Opening Night is a beloved annual event designed to celebrate the start of the holiday shopping season — a cozy, fun-filled night where you and your friends can shop local, enjoy treats, enter raffles, and soak in the festive energy of Petoskey’s historic Gaslight District.

Businesses across East Lake, Mitchell, Howard, and Lake Streets will roll out special offerings just for the evening: games, discounts, delightful nibbles, and even chances to win prizes as you dart from shop to shop.

Be sure to RSVP on our Facebook Event for event updates.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Holiday shopping with style: Instead of the usual holiday scramble, you get to leisurely browse, pick out gifts, indulge in treats — all without the January overwhelm.
  • Social district perks: Thanks to Petoskey’s Downtown Social District, you can carry your adult beverage as you stroll.
  • Games, prizes & more: Each participating store offers unique games or raffles. You can also enter the Doe Prize Drawing — drop entry slips in “BUCKets” at retailers, no purchase necessary.
  • Grand Doe Prize: One lucky winner snags a basket of downtown goodies plus $500 in Downtown Dollars. There are also second- and third-place prizes.
  • After Party Vibes: When shopping winds down, head over to the Rose Room at the Perry Hotel for live jazz — Laura Crowe will perform from 8 PM onward.

Participating Shops & Highlights

Some of the local favorites getting in on the fun:

  • Copper Aesthetics: Enjoy skincare demos, signature cocktails, and a chance to chat with their team — plus JoJo’s cookies, because why not?
  • Glik’s Boutique: 20% off storewide, plus snacks to nibble on while you shop.
  • Fustini’s: Delicious bites, and 15% of sales go to the Manna Food Project.
  • Northgoods: Drinks, treats, and a raffle prize valued up to $75.
  • Somebody’s Gallery: Pick a “buck” from their buck pole and you could win a discount up to 30%.
  • Tap 30: Try their special Ladies Opening Night cocktail — a pumpkin latte martini.

And that’s just a sampling — more than 40 downtown businesses often participate, creating a truly immersive holiday shopping experience.

Tips for Making the Most of the Night

  1. Bring a friend (or more): It’s more fun to shop in company — and you can help remind each other of what you love.
  2. Dress in layers: November evenings can be brisk in Northern Michigan, so cozy up with a scarf, hat, and warm coat.
  3. Make a prize-plan: Visit stores with big or unique raffles early, then fill in the rest of your route.
  4. Pace yourself: Sip, snack, and shop at your own speed. With sips in hand (thanks to the Social District), there’s no rush.
  5. Stick around for the after party: Even if you’re not a jazz aficionado, the Perry Hotel’s Rose Room offers great ambiance to unwind and reflect on your finds.

Why It Matters to Petoskey

Beyond being just a shopping event, Ladies Opening Night helps champion downtown’s small, local businesses as they kick off the most important time of year. It’s a celebration of community — where locals and visitors converge, where shop owners greet familiar faces, and where the charm of Petoskey really shines.
